The Avenue drivers club was formed in 2009 by a small group of classic car enthusiasts and devotees of the Avenue Cafe, who serve the best coffee in Bristol.
We’re not ‘Petrolheads’, we’re individual Gentlemen (and Ladies) with a passion for anything motorised that will do at least 100mph. The purpose of the club is to give the enthusiasts an opportunity to meet on a regular basis with likeminded individuals and drive their classics at least once a month!
The members of the club meet at the cafe, situated on the corner of historic Queens Square in Bristol on the morning of the second Sunday of every month
We have organised that Costas and Bob, joint owners of the Cafe will open early at 9:00am for coffee and breakfast, and that the staff will provide the normal banter and abuse reserved for regular customers.
Be it classic, modern, a car or a motorcycle (although the wearing of leather romper suits is discouraged) you’re welcome here. Enjoy the hospitality, inspect the vehicles that turn up and meet other enthusiasts.
If this sounds good, put some Castrol R in your pipe, send the children up the chimney and recline in the wing backed Chesterfield that is the Avenue Drivers Club.

Castle Combe Circuit
Castle Combe Circuit opened just 18 months after Silverstone in the summer of 1950, making it one of the longest established circuits in the UK. Until 1999, the circuit followed it's original layout, around the perimeter of the old air base. In that first year, a young Stirling Moss won a race and over the next few years, names like Mike Hawthorn, Colin Chapman, Les Leston, Roy Salvadori and John Surtees thrilled huge crowds.
By the 60's, several planning constraints had seen the circuit become run down and although the old Brands Hatch company, Motor Circuit Developments tried hard to develop meetings in the early 70's with Formula 5000 and other major events, planning problems prevented long term development. However in 1976, the circuit lease was obtained by the current owners and the long road to developing the circuit as a modern national racing venue began. Nigel Mansell, Ayrton Senna, and David Coulthard all won races in the 70's and 80's, and by the 90's, the circuit hosted rounds of most of the national championships.
Today, the circuit boasts modern facilities for competitors and spectators, and the resurfaced and now reshaped circuit providing what is generally recognised as providing the closest circuit racing in British motorsport.

Prescott has been home to top flight motor racing as well as vintage and classic meetings for cars and bikes for almost 80 years now, so in celebration of our longevity we have been making some changes to ensure that we remain at the forefront of Hill Climb courses. With such a long and illustrious history, we felt it was time we gave ourselves a fresh look, shouted about ourselves a bit more and introduced ourselves to some new faces.
We can't imagine anything better than a day on the Prescott Estate, enjoying the rolling acres of green, the dappled sun in the orchard (the Great British weather is something we take on the chin!), the smell of hot motor-oil, the feel of warm tarmac and the sound of a well tuned engine in full song.

We estimate that over 90% of people who own a high performance car, sports car or any other powerful car, will realise less than 35% of its full potential, and when we speak of potential we don’t mean reaching its top speed. Any fool can drive fast in a straight line. What we are saying is that around nine out of ten high performance car drivers are living through a period of car ownership during which they are missing out on about 65% of what their car can offer. It’s a bit like owning a beautiful piece of art and never seeing the colours, or having a musical instrument that you never get to play well. That being the case, the only point in owning your high performance car or sports car will be to look good in a traffic queue, or when cruising on a motorway.
